- Description
- Postcard of an aerial view of the Croatian Children’s Home, postmarked September 5 1952. The Croatian Children’s Home was an orphanage that stood at Potter and Dempster, today the site of The Landings condos. This postcard was sent by a girl named Rosie, who lived at the home, to her friend Jeannette in Chicago. Back of the postcard reads "Hi Jeanette. We start school Sept 3 and just sat in the seat. I tought maybe you would like to have one of these picture of the home so I am sending you one. Rosie." The children lived in seven cottages on the campus, each with two front rooms, several bedrooms, an enclosed porch, and live-in house mother. Rosie labeled the seven cottages and other buildings in the photo for Jeannette. The Home closed in 1969.
