- Description
- My name is Jill and I live with my husband Daniel and daughter Tallulah. My husband and I have lived in Des Plaines 27 years. Our home was originally a Des Plaines institution: Bade Bike Shop, where Des Plaines residents purchased all their bikes! During summer 2020, Tallulah and I participated in a world-wide art exhibition called Art In Place. Artists were invited to display art on the outside or in a window of their homes for their community to enjoy. The organizers of the exhibition created it so that people could experience art in their own neighborhoods during Covid shelter-in-place because museums and galleries were obviously closed. Tallulah’s piece, titled “Branch 2” appeared on the top face of our home. On the front of our building were mailboxes with flyers describing the community engagement and international aspects of the exhibit and our invitation to our neighbors to enjoy our art. To our delight, the flyers disappeared from the box all summer long, telling us that our neighbors were clearly stopping by. Tallulah and I were happy to display our art to make life a bit happier for our community during COVID 2020.
