- Description
- View of the Des Plaines River near the intersection of River Road and Dempster (Miner) Street. In September 1986, there was widespread flooding in Cook and Lake counties due to record rainfall. It was reported at the time to be the worst flood in the Chicago area for 26 years. In Des Plaines, the Des Plaines River reached approximately 11 feet. President Ronald Reagan declared the region a disaster area.
