- Description
- Letter written by Corporal Douglas Wildfang to Gloria Mau while he was serving in Okinawa during World War II. Gloria Mau of Des Plaines, Illinois, volunteered to correspond with many people serving overseas during the war years. In this letter, Doug thanks Gloria for sending him a birthday card; writes about the joy of his fellow soldiers and the people back home over the surrender of the Japanese, and the end of the war. A photograph of an unknown aircraft and a clipping with a poem written by Paul E. Pflueger is enclosed.
