- Letter written by Corporal Douglas Wildfang to Gloria Mau while he was serving in Okinawa during World War II. Gloria Mau of Des Plaines, Illinois, volunteered to correspond with many people serving overseas during the war years. In this letter, Doug writes about the reaction of the Japanese soldiers to their defeat and the end of the war; his bother Jack's return home and difficulties with malaria; places he would like to see upon his return home. This is the last known letter he wrote to Gloria before shipping back to the United States.
