- Description
- Earle Field, located on the north side of Thacker Street, where Central School stands today. Earle Field was one of the earliest parks in Des Plaines. It was on land owned by the city and maintained by the Des Plaines Park District. Named for Des Plaines civic leader and founding Treasurer of the Des Plaines Park District Board of Commissioners, Dr. Clarence Earle, the park was the site of picnics and sporting events. Teams from nearby Maine Township High School, located on the other side of Thacker Street, also used Earle Field for sporting events.
