"In The Service Of Our Country . . That phrase means a lot! Remember Bill Brown down the street . . . that young fellow who used to do the deliveries for his Dad's drug store? He's “In The Service Of His Country" now Let's see how the phrase applies to him: Bill was going to school when we got into this war, and he filled out a question- naire along with all the other young fellows in town. It wasn't long, however, before he grew impatient to get into actual combat ... so he joined the Army without waiting. They sent him to Australia and he found exactly what he wanted . . . COMBAT and lots of it! Bill’s in a hospital out there now. He wasn't decorated for anything . . , but he's the stuff of which real soldiers are made! Bill’s case is typical of what the young folks of Des Plaines are doing today . . . mere kids who have joined the Army, the Navy, the Marines, and many of our girls who have enlisted with the WACS and WAVES They know what it means to be "In The Service Of Our Country." MEN and WOMEN of DES PLAINES "In the Service of Our Country" Let's get behind Bill and all the others and show them that we, loo, know what that phrase means. Talking isn’t going to do Bill any good out there in Australia ... he wants you to get down to business . . , support him with constant, regular purchases of War Bonds. Get into the salvage campaign with a vengeance! Turn in metals, rope, fats, and all the other vital materials the government is calling for. Let's take our hats off to the boys and girls who are “In The Service Of Our Country”—and then roll up our sleeves and pitch in!
