Optimists Club of Des Plaines presents check to Self-Help Pantry, 1990

Wayne Johnson, president of the Optimists Club of Des Plaines, recently presented a check for $2,000 to the Self-Help Closet and Pantry of Des Plaines. Jane Horn, presi- dent of the Closet/Pantry, and Del Johnson, food coordinator, are shown receiving the gift. Other Optimists who volunteer at the Pantry are Charles Schmidt, Mort Price, Paul Anderson, Glen Swanson and Raburn McNeal. The Closet/Pantry, located at 1040 Thacker St., downstairs, is open every Tuesday at 2 p.m. to help people in Des Plaines who need food, clothing and some housewares. (Gil Horn photo)
