- Description
- Portrait of Evangeline Thiede taken at her father William Thiede's photgraphy studio on Ellinwood Street, mid-1910s. Evangeline, who is five years old, is holding a small parasol and is seated next to a stuffed bear wearing a sash. Evangeline was the second of three children of William and Ida Thiede. She had an older sister she never knew – Alpha Thiede died in 1899 at eight years old. The Thiede family, unfortunately, experienced the loss of another child again when Evangeline Thiede passed away in 1920, just a few years after this photo was taken. Of the Thiede’s three children, only their son Clarence survived childhood.
