- Description
- Postcard of South Division School. The school opened in 1906, the school was located on the block between Thacker and Center streets and Ashland Avenue. South Division School was given the new name "Central School" in 1928 as a result of two new elementary schools being added to the city in the 1920s. A few years later the former Riverview School on Everett Street was renamed "South School". This two-story was demolished in 1961 after students were moved to a new Central School building on Thacker Street.
