Description
This picture is of my grandfather's brother Charlie Hahnfeldt (also spelled Hahnfeld) on his horse drawn cart. It was taken in the late 1800's in Des Plaines at least that was what my oldest sister told me. It was before the main road was built in town. My grandfather Herman Hahnfeldt was a carpenter an built many homes including his own in 1891. The house my grandfather built still stands today with my nephew Mark Mensching and his family living in it. My oldest brother Leroy inherited it from my Grandmother and Mark inherited it from my brother. I was born in the up stairs bedroom in 1936 and lived in it till I entered the Marine Corps in 1954.
