WHAT'S THIS?
Vol. II, No. 3
G U N G HOI
Mary Kay’s brother, Staff Sgt. John
Lauer, is home on a 30-day furlough. John
is a member of the famed Carlson's Marine
Raiders who’ve done such a terrific job
in the Pacific.
new captain
Patricia Meyer, because it has been
impossible for her to be active in the Des
Plaines Chapter after leaving the city,
has resigned as Captain of our local chap-
ter. We’ll miss Pat terrifically - she’s
the most dynamic leader a group could have,
but when she’s well enough and is settled
in Chicago, Commander Bosworth expects her
to organize a new chapter.
So now', officially, as she has actually
been doing for months, Lorraine Ladendorf
is our Captain. Best of luck, Larrie -
we’re all right with you.

FIRST ANNIVERSARY DINNER
Have you made your reservation
yet? If not, you’d better hurry and
bring your $1.50 to either Esther Lanckhoff or Irma Wagner. Space at the
Tallyho is limited and in order to make
sure that you’ll be among those pres-
ent, contact either Esther or Irma be-
fore March 7,
The committee, composed of Eileen
Becker, Chairman; Jackie Austin,
Dorothy Matousek, Irma Wagner, Fannie
Sladek, and Esther Lanckhoff have been
very busy but rather secretive regard-
ing the details of the dinner. They
promise a very interesting, original,
and unusual evening in the way of en-
tertainment, decorations, etc.
Save March 15, starting at 6:30.
Not one of us wants to miss the 1ST
Anniversary Dinner - do we?
ST. PATRICK’S DANCE
Sure and it’s the Irish who’ll be
having a high auld time at the St.
Patrick’s Dance - and everyone else is
looking forward to a gay evening March
22 when the men of the 740 M.P. Bn.
will be our guests.
Definite plans will be announced
later - the committee is buzzing on it
now: Lorry Himel, Betty Hammerl,
Fannie Sladek, Irma Wagner, Lee Bremmer
Mary Bynum, and others.
During the recent 4th War Loan
Drive, Des Plaines WDCA members sold
$4,000 worth of bonds - nice going. You
know from our local papers that the
city as a whole more than met the quota -
but the quota is only a stepping stone
till the whole war is won - "Let ’Em Have
It’.”
