- Description
- This quilt is made from colors of felt that signify the felt uniforms of the United States military operating in Europe during World War I. Symbols from the war were machine embroidered onto wool rectangles and widely available during the war. The quilt maker embroidered decorative seams on top. The symbols show the breadth of people committed to the war effort. The war’s influence on quilt-making also tells us that the war had profound cultural impact in the American household.
